4 What’s in a Domain Name? Look at the URL to answer Who & Where Sites from commercial businesses usually use.com,.biz U.S. federal government sites end in.gov,.mil K-12 sites often use “k12” in the URL University and college sites end in.edu Sites from non-profit organizations may end in.org or.net A tilde (~) or percent (%) usually means that this is a personal page – even when attached to a university or school!
