Qualifications and Requirements for Voting in Texas To be qualified to vote in Texas, a person must: 1. be 18 years of age or older; 2. be a United States citizen; 3. not have been determined by a final judgement of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.

Qualifications and Requirements for Voting in Texas, continued. 4. not have been finally convicted of a felony or, if so convicted, you must have completed all of your punishment, including any term of incarceration, parole, supervision, period of probation, or you must have received a pardon. 5.be a resident of the county or political subdivision on the day of the election; and 6. be registered to vote.
