Triassic Period FIND OUT MORE ABOUT DINOSAURS IN THE FIRST PERIOD.

LANDSCAPE All land on Earth was together. The supercontinent was called Pangaea. There was vast desserts and warm seas

CLIMATE The period was very warm The land was rather dry In Winter it was very chilly, however in Summer in was boiling hot

MAMMALS AND OTHER ANIMALS The oceans teemed with the coiled – shelled ammonites, molusks, and sea urchins. Frogs, salamanders, crocodiles and snakes went on land and some went in water. MORE ABOUT MAMMALS AND OTHER ANIMALS

PLANTS AND VEGETATION C onifer and Evergreens trees (they stills exist now). Moss, Liverwort and Ferns (moss and ferns still exist now).

DINOSAURS IN GENERAL Dinosaurs needed each other to survive for meat Plant eaters eat plants to have more energy and meat eaters need plant eaters to eat.

PLATEOSAURUS The Plateosarus in the late Triassic It was the of the giant herbivore dinosaur ABOUT PLATEOSAURUS

EORAPTOR It was the earliest known dino to walk on two feet The name means ‘dawn thief’. Length: 3 feet (1 m) Weight: 20 pounds (9 kilos)

ICHTHYOSAURS Marine reptile Ichthyosaurs were stream-lined marine reptiles that ranged in size from 7-30 feet long (4.5-9 m). They had sharp teeth in long jaws, and big eyes. They had four crescent-shaped fins, a stabilizing dorsal fin, and a fish-like tail with two lobes. They breathed air with lungs through nostrils which were close to the eyes near the top of the snout

END OF PERIOD The end-Triassic extinction, also called the Triassic-Jurassic extinction, global extinction event occurring at the end of the Triassic Period (252 million to 201 million years ago) that resulted in the demise of some 76 percent of all marine and terrestrial species and 20 %of all taxonomic families. It is thought that the end-Triassic extinction was the key moment that allowed the dinosaurs to become the dominant land animals on Earth. The event ranks fourth in severity of the five major extinction episodes that span geologic time. CLICK HERE TO LEAR MORE ABOUT THE END OF PERIODCLICK HERE TO LEAR MORE ABOUT THE END OF PERIOD
