11 Differentiation Identified children will be aided by T.A. during making of naan bread. LA and MA children will be given template to help write instructions. Template will be differentiated in terms of writing framework and picture prompts. HA will create their own.

As mentioned, the children will observe a video which shows Diwali lights. This small discussion will be the basis of the next lesson.

13 Lesson 3 Art- Diwali Diyas
L.O: To design and create a traditional Diwali diya.

14 Success Criteria To understand the historical and cultural purpose of a diya in Diwali. 2) To mould a diya using clay to be used within a Diwali celebration. 3) To use Rangoli patterning to decorate your Diwali diya.

16 Learning Objective To perform dances using a range of movement patterns (NC 2014, P.E.) To learn about the Diwali celebration.

17 Success Criteria Perform 5 Diwali-inspired dance moves correctly.
Arrange a one-minute dance performance including the new dance moves.

18 Plan: Warm-up WARM-UP: Play music as children enter the room, this will have been played in previous lessons. Re-cap what we have been learning about in previous lessons. Choose questions off the wall from lesson 1 enquiry regarding dance.

19 Plan: Present Play clip of children doing a Diwali dance.
Play again, this time with no music. Have children pick out dance moves that they would like to put together into a routine. Make a class list of the dance moves on the whiteboard. Demonstration

20 Plan: Practice Practice the elicited moves together with music playing in the background.

21 Plan: Production Class use dance moves and any other moves they feel appropriate to the theme to arrange a simple dance routine for Diwali. One minute piece of music played 5 times for them to practice over. Set groupwork expectations. Teacher circulates and offers feedback to children. Allow time to discuss routine.

22 Plan: Plenary Students perform their dances.
Record the dances on an iPad if possible. Other groups offer constructive and positive feedback. How could we make this dance better?

23 Differentiation Students with physical disabilities can participate with dance moves that they are able to do e.g. hand moves. Great opportunity for EAL children to get involved and participate. Differentiate by success criteria, number of dance moves that children are expected to use.
