A person may log instrument time only for that flight time when the person operates the aircraft solely by reference to the instruments under actual or simulated conditions. Actual Simulated If not with an instructor: The name of the Safety Pilot Can use simulator time if Authorized Instructor is present and signs.

A person may log training time when that person receives training from an authorized instructor in an aircraft, flight simulator, or flight training device. The training time must be logged in a logbook and must: Be endorsed legibly by instructor Include a description of the training given and the length of the training Signature of the instructor, certificate number and date of expiration
