5 GRHC 2016 New Strategic Direction Corporate members, through the GRHC Board and a recent member survey have helped us to identify new key strategic directions to benefit members and move towards attaining its market development goal. ●Focus on short term market development activities. ●Focus on stormwater policy advocacy and development as a key market driver ●Focus on education and outreach to civil engineers ●Explore a transition of our long term research and educational services to the Green Infrastructure Foundation (GIF) (the charitable arm of GRHC) and a focusing of GRHC on short term advocacy and market development. In 2012, at our 10th Annual CitiesAlive, we set an aspirational market development goal of reaching 1 billion square feet of green roofs by 2022 and we are ramping up our activities significantly to reach that goal.

Symposia attendance engages local governments on the benefits of green roof and wall technologies through educators and manufacturers. 45% of Louisville Symposia attendees were industry professionals and consumers from the area interested in developing green infrastructure in the Southeastern US.

22 Market Development - Training Free Online Lecture Best Practices in Green Roof Policy Implementation One-hour lecture provides an overview of green roof policy development activities from across North America, as well as detailed case studies from Washington, DC (the leader in green roof implementation), Toronto, ON, which has instituted a bylaw requiring green roofs on new buildings, and Devens, MA, which has developed unique policy tools for new development. Harlem GI Charrette report will be available in the New Year The goal of this program is to stimulate the development of policies which support the implementation of green roofs and other forms of green infrastructure by exploring costs and benefits at an aggregate scale and engaging policy makers, designers and community groups.
