Starting Next Week “Organic Jesus” A Sermon Mini-Series focusing on messages from Jesus on how we can learn eternal truths from observing nature.
3
Galatians 5: 13-26
4
Galatians 5: 16-17 16 “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.”
5
The Apostle Paul uses multiple phrases to express the same basic idea in Galatians 5. We are called to… Live & Walk in the Spirit Be led by the Spirit Keep in step w/the Spirit
6
Paul had the difficult challenge of re-educating former Jews who were so used to following human rabbis into now bonding with the “Rabbi” that Jesus left in charge of their care: The Holy Spirit!
7
John 14:26 “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”
8
In much the same way as Jesus’ earthly disciples, we can’t expect to “keep in step with the Spirit” by not intentionally staying connected to the Holy Spirit.
9

John 4: 23-24 23 “A time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and His worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
14
Isaiah 26:9 “My soul yearns for You in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for You.” ----------------------------- Choosing to pray means choosing to enjoy God’s Presence.
15
The ultimate test of our devotion to God is our obedience to the will of God. Our disobedience “grieves the Spirit” and can “quench” His work in our lives; as well as in the life of our church. * Romans 8:14
16
Galatians 5: 22-23 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control.
17
In the “garden of your heart” What is God gently tending to? What is He consistently pruning? What is He asking you to uproot? What new trait/habit needs planted?
18
“Thrive” We know we were made for so much more than ordinary lives. It's time for us to more than just survive… We were made to thrive!
