Definitions: Radical sign – the symbol used to indicate square root Radical expression – an expression containing a square root Prime number – a whole number that has exactly two factors, itself and 1 Composite number – a whole number that has more than two factors

The square root of a product is equal to the product of the square roots. The square root of a quotient is equal to the quotient of the square roots.
