Interview Scenarios What would you do?

When opportunity knocks?  Your WBL coordinator has set up an potential employment opportunity for you. All you have to do is call the employer to make an appointment for an interview.

What do you do?  Tell the coordinator, “thanks, but I have better things to do after school and on the weekends?”  Choose not to call for the interview, but make 100 excuses for not making the call?  Call the employer as soon as possible to schedule an appointment for an interview?

You should:  Call the employer ASAP to schedule an appointment for an interview and an excellent opportunity!

While on the way to the interview…

 Fred Fickle has failed to show up for two interviews.  Fred Fickle also believes he has "good reasons" for not showing up: he couldn't find the employer's building. he didn’t have enough gas to drive to the interview. he really doesn't want to work at that type of job.

What do you think?  Fred shouldn’t feel bad because stuff happens and he really didn’t want the job!  Fred is accountable for his actions—he has a responsibility to be prepared and on time for appointments that he schedules.

 Fred is accountable and has a responsibility to follow through once he has made a commitment.

Dressing for the interview…  After covering the instructional lesson on how to dress for an interview, Suzie appears for an office job interview wearing a tank top with no shoulder straps, jeans which display her midsection, sandals, and rings on all ten fingers.

What do you think?  No problem, Suzie’s clothes are “all the rage!”  What’s the problem? At least Suzie showed up!!  Suzie needs obviously needs retraining on “How to Dress for a Job Interview.”

Remember! The first 30 seconds make a powerful impression…  Ladies Should Wear: suit, dress, skirt & blouse, stockings & low-heeled shoes  Gentlemen Should Wear: suit, shirt, tie, slacks, socks & shoes
