Related Rates 5.6

Ex: A pebble is dropped into a calm pond, causing ripples in the form of concentric circles. The radius r of the outer ripple is increasing at a constant rate of 1 foot per second. When this radius is 4 feet, at what rate is the total area A of the disturbed water increasing?

Ex: An airplane is flying at an elevation of 6 miles on a flight path that is directly over a radar tracking station. Let s represent the distance in miles between the radar station and the plane. If s is decreasing at a rate of 400 miles per hour when s is 10 miles, what is the velocity of the plane?

Ex: A ladder 10 feet long rest against a vertical wall
Ex: A ladder 10 feet long rest against a vertical wall. If the bottom of the ladder slides away from the wall at a rate of 1 ft/sec, how fast is the top of the ladder sliding down the wall when the bottom of the ladder is 6ft from the wall?

Ex: Gravel is being dumped from a conveyor belt at a rate of 30 cubic feet per min and its coarseness is such that it forms a pile in the shape of a cone whose base diameter and height are always equal. How fast is the height of the pile increasing when the pile is 10 ft high?
