6. Orwell’s fictional Animal Farm is likely based on the Russian Revolution of 1917, which led to the rise of the Soviet Union, resulting in the fall of the Russian Empire. Orwell believed “in a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” George Orwell uses farm animals to showcase Stalin’s role, and other prominent figure’s role during this time.
