Topography
2
Rock Types Igneous rock Rocks formed from cooling magma. Volcanic mountains. Weathers and erodes slowly.
4
Sedimentary rock Rocks form from sediment. Floodplains, beaches, and deserts. Weathers and erodes fast!
6
Metamorphic Rocks Rocks changed to another type of rock because of heat and pressure. Weathers and erodes VERY slowly!
8
Soil Types Sand Soil Largest particles. Erodes quickly.
10
Silt Soil Smaller particles. Erodes quickly.
12
Clay Soil Smallest particles compacted together. Erodes the slowest.
15
Stream and River Formation Gravity pulls water down hill creating a stream (gradient). As a stream grows in size, it begins to curve or meander. A stream curve wide enough to cut off the meander, forming an oxbow lake.
18
Glacier Motion Glaciers slide down slopes. Compression of snow and ice flattens a glacier causing it to expand and move. Glaciers increase speed if… The ice is thicker. The slope is steeper. The ice is warmer.
