Activity: Operation Gratitude Writing a letter is a meaningful way to show support to the members of our Armed Forces. Pair and share: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard…What do we know? Why should we be thankful? How do they protect our freedoms? Your teacher has passed out lined paper or a template for your letter. Begin your letter: “Dear Service Member” or “Dear Hero” or whatever wording you think is best. Write your letter, expressing why you are thankful for their military service. Be sure to thank them for serving our country and protecting our freedom. Sign your letter with your first name only! We will use Operation Gratitude to deliver these letters. All Roundup Teachers will bundle all letters and send them to Mrs. Bahorski.

Activities: Hero Bracelets and Green Light a Vet Hero Bracelets Your Roundup teacher has a few Hero Bracelets that were made to honor an American Veteran and reflect upon him/her. Pass these around and reflect on the Hero and what he or she sacrificed for our country. Select 3 students to wear the Hero Bracelets for the day. After wearing it for one day pass the bracelet on to another member of your Roundup Class to wear for a day. Keep it going until everyone has a chance to wear it for one day. Once every student has had a chance to wear the Hero Bracelets return them to your Roundup teacher who will return them to Mrs. Bahorski. #greenlightavet

Tomorrow is Veteran’s Day… As we end this lesson on Being Socially Conscious, we need to reflect on why we are thankful to our Military Veterans and how we can show our appreciation tomorrow and every day. Think about how you can spread this Social Consciousness to your family and to your community. Tomorrow you will be receiving a special gift to help you honor our Veterans on Veteran’s Day! Remember, if you see any Veterans in your school or your community, please be sure to thank them for their service!
