PICODIV database and web site status in May 2001

Web site

Work in progress Sampling Sites Experimental protocols Clone libraries Cultures Databases List of publications with preprints Web site

Taxonomy Cultures SSU rRNA sequences –Access –ARB Probes Environmental data Databases

Taxonomy 160 species From initial version, more taxonomical fields have been added (basionym, synonym etc...) Will be soon updated by Jahn and Wenche Will contain nanoplankton and microplankton species found in Roscoff (S. Ristori)

Cultures - RCC

400 entries RFLP and sequence data ( linked to RNA database ) Pigment data Flow cytometry data LM picture for each strain TEM pictures when available Cultures - RCC

RNA sequences Access 5 800 entries Quick search for available sequences Assignement of clones and cultures sequences based on ARB analysis Allows very easy cross analysis (e.g. compare clone library between seasons or sites)

RNA sequences ARB 1720 new entries added and aligned Main tree organized with taxonomical groups Exchange of data simplified (not so many data and ARB alignement is very efficient): fasta files

One per site Sampling code Hydrological and meteorological data Sampling information (volumes, protocols etc…) Culture isolation data Measurement data flow cytometry lugol and heterotrophs counts pigments TEM probes Coastal sites Not operationnal yet. To be developped in year 2

Final word Updates for web site and data should be sent to coordinator unsolicited !!! Suggestions for improvements ?
