About Me 8 years of teaching experience Master’s in Education from ODU 6 th year at PAMS Out of 94 students I had 29 in 7 th grade I taught siblings of 9 First year in 8 th grade First year teaching Civics Ethan - 6 Andrew – 6 months

Technology Wikispace I use for daily agenda, due dates, notes, worksheets, and more! www.cel.ly Celly is a GREAT tool – imagine a texting feature with keeping both parties’ phone numbers private. Will be OPTIONAL for students to join, but highly recommended. Edmodo Written assignments, at home quizzes, discussion board, and more! ALL students are already signed up! BYOD - I often ask student to BYOD – however, I tell the kids, if mom and dad say no, THEY WIN! I will always have laptops/tablets available for kids who can’t/shouldn’t,/don’t bring theirs! I will also be using an online tool for pre and post tests... More info to come!

Guidance Conferences/Guidance Corey McGinnis and Jenny Hinton – 8:40 – 9:00 a.m. Team meetings with all core teachers is generally a positive experience as, more often than not, struggles and/or obstacles will be present in more than one learning environment.

Supplies I accept the following as DONATIONS for my class as these are NOT required: -Markers -Glue Sticks -Tissues -Lysol/Baby wipes -Post-it notes -CANDY for the students – although I prefer dark and peanut butter Fell free to take a “post-it” note tonight from my door of an item on the wish list! These NEED to be with the student EACH DAY they come to class and are REQUIRED: -Student Agenda -3-ring binder -Paper -Pens/Pencils Student SHOULD have access to these as needed: -USB Drive -Internet Access -Ability to print (not too common) -Earbuds

Academic Expectations -Have necessary supplies for the day -I have a small stash for students in the back -Keep daily warm-up in binder -Keep up with daily assignments and homework -Ask questions on Edmodo or directly to me via Celly -Get make-up work the next day if you are absent (so, A-Day students need to come B-Day during PAMS time to get their work!) -Students who don’t complete work/homework may be asked to serve lunch detention, attend AM/PM homework center, or academic detention -Ask questions!

Behavioral Expectations Class and School rules are listed in the Student’s Agenda that they received the first day of school. Students are expected to follow the rules AT ALL TIMES I have established a S.T.O.P. disciplinary system in my classroom 1- Student will receive verbal warning(s) in the classroom. A seat change may occur or a “time-out” in another classroom. 2 – A S.T.O.P. sign may be given to a student as a final warning. 3 – After receipt of the S.T.O.P. sign and continued misbehavior, students will be given a parent letter to bring home and return to school the next day The next disciplinary steps include: teacher detention (after school) then a discipline referral to the office in which an administrator determines the next course of action.

Grading Students are evaluated a standards based grade system

Thank You! Do we have time?... Wow! Questions? Comments? Concerns? PLEASE take a post-it note from my door! This is GREATLY appreciated! Us teachers like dark chocolate - and coffee
