Review of the processes released in the framework of the MMP Goran Perinić
2
The MMP in a nutshell CM, PM, resources, spares, procurement,... need of DB objects
3
Implementing MMP modules “Introduction to the MMF and Implementation Guideline” EDMS 1416432
4
“MMP - Asset Lifecycle Management Information Systems Integration” EDMS 1233516 Processes proposed by the MMP
5
Step by step instruction – example:
6
Processes proposed by the MMP EN/EL specific process replying to cabling project needs
7
Processes proposed by the MMP However, the process starts only once a coding need is identified. It does not reply to “When do I need coding?” and “Is it all to be treated the same way?”
9
Is it all the same?

What says the LHC QAP1/3 LHC-PM-QA-309.00 The supplier shall establish and maintain documented procedures for identifying the equipment. These procedures shall conform to the document LHC-PM-QA-206.00 "LHC Part Identification" i.e. the QAP determines what needs to be done, but not how to do it
11
What says the LHC QAP2/3 LHC-PM-QA-303.00 DOCUMENT EDITORS [...] Their responsibilities relating to document handling are: [...] To ensure the correct identification of documents as described in “Document Types and Naming Conventions” LHC-PM-QA-202.00 The definitions given in this document are applicable to all documents that are either part of the LHC configuration baseline, or closely related to the baseline, and relevant to the following Project activities: Management Quality assurance Engineering Contracting Fabrication, Assembly, Test, Installation Operations, Maintenance
12
What says the LHC QAP3/3 LHC-PMQA-305.00 Drawing sequential numbers are automatically assigned by the CDD application, based on Project and Equipment codes.
13
What is actually practiced? The naming responsibility is either with the equipment owners or with the internal suppliers In many case the naming processes have been integrated into local processes and they adopt the LHC QAP more or less strictly A multitude of non-harmonized naming processes exist beyond the LHC QAP scope
14
Established harmonized processes Naming processes object document drawing equipment Accelerator equipment designed at CERNXXXX Non-accelerator equipmentddXd Productive technical assetsd Buildings and CE structuresd Control entities Reference points Standard components in stores Equipment group spare parts
15
Incomplete list of naming process issues Scope - The limit of application of the LHC QAP is topic of discussion Centralization – Some users point out that the delays for obtaining new codes are incompatible with their local processes. Cost of application – The development of independent processes outside the scope makes advancement of harmonization and development of common tools difficult Awareness – Newcomers may not be sufficiently aware of CERN PLM methods ???
16
What are the needs Scope discussion to either draw a clear border of applicability or to understand the impact of considering all technical installations as part of one CERN system Awareness building
