Aim: What are nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs, and how are they used? Get out your Do Now sheet and notebook. 1. Respond to the following using complete sentences. Give an example of someone using the wrong tool for a task. For instance, using a plate to drink out of, or using a screwdriver to hammer in nails.

When we talk about parts of speech, we are not necessarily talking about specific words, but rather, how those words are used. Some words can be used as many parts of speech. Living Verb – I am living in Brooklyn Adjective – The living dead are coming to get me! Noun – We make our living driving taxi cabs.

Number your paper 1-5. For each sentence, please write whether the word written in green is an adjective, adverb, noun, or verb. 1. The deli was closed, so I went and got a slice of pizza instead. 2. The Wolverine was a really boring movie. 3. Russia is the biggest country, but China has the most people. 4. Wearing your gray shirt and black pants is mandatory. 5.
