Number systems Two types of number systems 1.Non-real numbers – numbers that can’t be placed on a number line. Anything being divided by zero, i.e. 14/0 The square root of a negative # 2.Real Numbers – numbers that CAN be placed on a number line.

Real Numbers Real # consist of the set of both Rational & Irrational #. Irrational # are numbers that when they are turned into decimals they DO NOT Terminate nor Repeat a pattern. If a whole # is not a perfect square, its square root is an irrational #.

Rational numbers when turned into decimals either Terminate or repeat a pattern. Integers – positive & negative whole # & zero Whole numbers – 0 & positive integers Square root – one of two equal factors of a number Cube root – one of three equal factors of a number
