Lines and Angles Geometry Farris 2015
2
I can identify parallel, perpendicular and skew lines. I can identify the angles formed by two lines and a transversal.
3
Definitions Parallel lines – coplanar and do not intersect (ll) Perpendicular lines – intersect at 90° angles ( ) Skew lines – not coplanar, parallel, and do not intersect Parallel planes – planes that do not intersect
5
Parallel Planes
6
Definitions Transversal – a line that intersects two coplanar lines at two different points.
7
Corresponding angles – lie on the same side of the transversal Alternate interior angles – nonadjacent angles that lie on opposite sides of the transversal Alternate exterior angles – lie on opposite sides of the transversal Same-side interior angles – (constructive interior angles) lie on the same side of the transversal
