MEMBERSHIP ESTABLISHES COMMON CRITERIA FOR MEMBERSHIP PROVIDES AUTOMATIC SEDC MEMBERSHIP IF ORGANIZATION SATISFIES CRITERIA AND ATTENDS 4 SEDC MEETINGS DELETES SEDC RIGHT TO VOTE IN MEMBERS INCLUDING RIGHT TO VOTE IN “STAKEHOLDERS” BY 2/3 VOTE ESTABLISHED ADDS AS OBJECTIVE TO REFLECT GEOGRAPHIC, RACIAL, CULTURAL AND ECONOMIC CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SOUTHEAST DISTRICT REQUIRES LOSS OF MEMBERSHIP IF MISS 4 MEETINGS WITHIN 12 MONTH PERIOD

ADDITIONAL COMMITTEE COMMENTS TEMPORARILY LEFT EXISTING CROSS BOUNDARY LANGUAGE “AS IS” WITH OBJECTIVE CROSS BOUNDARY ORGANIZATION COULD HAVE FULL MEMBERSHIP IN ONE DISTRICT RECOGNIZED THAT SEDC MAY NEED TO HELP SOME ORGANIZATIONS MEET MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA ESPECIALLY IF SEDC DOES NOT REFLECT DEMOGRAPHICS OF SOUTHEAST SEATTLE DELETED LANGUAGE ALLOWING PRESIDENT TO DETERMINE WHETHER GENERAL PUBLIC COULD ATTEND SEDC MEETING – VIOLATION OF OPEN MEETING REGULATION MOVED LISTING OF SEDC MEMBERS OUT OF THE SEDC BYLAWS SO THAT MEMBER LIST COULD BE MORE EASILY UPDATED

NEXT STEPS SEDC MEMBERS DISCUSS BYLAW REVISIONS WITH HOME ORGANIZATION SEDC MEMBERS PROVIDE COMMENTS TO SEDC PRIOR TO OCTOBER MEETING SEDC MEMBERS COME TO OCTOBER MEETING WITH AUTHORIZATION FROM HOME ORGANIZATION TO VOTE ON BYLAW REVISIONS

MAJOR CHANGES CRITERIA ESTABLISHED FOR MEMBERSHIP Minimum of 10 members Written by-laws and/or written mission statement Operate under democratic principles e.g. open, regular meetings; elect officers and representatives Membership open for individuals that meet organization’s membership criteria No restrictions based on socio-economic status, race, creed, color, gender, national origin, political ideology, sexual orientation, religion marital status, or any pysical mental or sensory disability
