What is a Virtual Classroom? ► A classroom that is design to teach/learn from a distance via a computer or mobile device. ► The instructor directs and guides the classroom on how the class will flow ► Students will follow the instructors directions and learn on their own ► Can be used for synchronous learning, if the learning/teaching is taking place together.

4. Synchronous Learning ► Usually done in a regular classroom, can be done via a virtual classroom if the group can interact with one another. ► The biggest advantage of Synchronous Learning is that students get a real-time interaction with their peers and the teacher, this allows for questions and discussion.

5. Synchronous Learning ► An example of Synchronous learning, notice that the communication connection is the most important part of a virtual classroom in regards to this type of learning.

Synchronous Learning ► Rules and Regulations  Under no circumstances should you reveal personal information.  Content should only be used for educational purposes only.  Copy Right – “Acknowledging the source of the copyrighted material does not substitute for obtaining permission” (U.S. Copy Right Office, 2012).

7. Key Apparatus ► A shared learning environment ► Students ► Teacher ► Tools  A discussion board/white board for communication  Chat

8. Tools ► This picture demonstrates a whiteboard with chat capabilities. Notice that the instructor can communicate via the chat or the writing board.

9. Tools ► The chat bar allows users to interact with the teacher. This is shown to everyone in the class, so questions can be seen by all.

10. Just In Time Training ► JIT training allows the teacher and student to move immediately to the subject matter of the training session. Usually designed to skip over information that the students may already know.

11. Why use JIT Training? ► Saves time and money by moving directly to what needs to be taught and what is needed to be learned.

12. Incorporating JIT Training ► Deciding when to use JIT training may be the most difficult part. A goal should be established, and once that goal is established JIT training may be the best fit. When using this type of training via a virtual classroom, make sure that you use visual and interactive learning objectives to gain the most productivity of the classroom.
