Definitions of the Day (DODs) 7.3 - GRAPING QUADRATIC FUNCTIONS OF THE FORM ax 2 +bx+c Axis of Symmetry (review) Vertex (review)
2
In every quadratic we have looked at so far, b=0. When b 0, the parabola shifts right or left. The axis of symmetry is no longer the y-axis. Remember, Quadratic F UNCTION Form of a vertical line! To find the y-coordinate of the vertex, we will plug in the x value back into the equation.
3
Find the Axis of Symmetry and the coordinates of the Vertex for the following Quadratic Functions. a) b)
4
Finding a suitable domain for a quadratic equation. Vertex 3 domain values above the vertex 3 domain values below the vertex Then we fill out our table of values like we have in the past.
5
Find a suitable domain for the given quadratic function. List the vertex and axis of symmetry. Then graph the quadratic function.
6
Find a suitable domain for the given quadratic function. List the vertex and axis of symmetry. Then graph the quadratic function.
7
Find a suitable domain for the given quadratic function. List the vertex and axis of symmetry. Then graph the quadratic function. Your Turn!!
