What determines color? Light can interact with objects Reflected Transmitted Absorbed When you put sunglasses on, light is transmitted through the lenses and the lenses absorb some light. Objects appear darker.

Classifying Materials A material thatTransparent transmits most of the light that strikes it Water, air, clear glass

A material that Translucent scatters the light that passes through it Wax paper, frosted glass

Opaque Objects The color of these objects are the colors of light they reflect The apple appears red because it reflects red light. The leaf looks green because it reflects green light. The apple absorbs the other colors.
