History During 1750 and 1850 Sweden’s population doubled They began moving to America to prevent famine Remained poor and kept an agricultural economy as others started to industrialize 1850-1910 more than 1 million Swedes moved to America 1870-1914 they started to industrialize the country and created trade unions and the Swedish Social Democratic Party Now has a low population density

Culture ABBA was the first well-known international band from Sweden Seven Nobel prizes in literature have been awarded to Swedes Two main spectator sports are ice hockey and football June 6 th is national day of Sweden

History of Government Sweden has a typical Western European history of democracy, beginning with the old Viking age Ting electing kings, ending with a regular royal power in the 14 th century, that in periods became more or less democratic depending on the general European trends. The current democratic regime is a product of a stable development of successively added democratic institutions introduced during the 19 th century up to 1921.

Economic System They do foreign trade of timber, hydropower, and iron ore Some large Companies in Sweden are Volo, and Ericsson Most industry in private control World Economic Forum ranks Sweden 4 th most competitive Don’t use the Euro instead have SEK (Swedish krona) Average inflation of Sweden has been one of the lowest among other countries in Europe

Comparison to U.K. Must be 18 years old to vote also Also doesn't have the Euro Sweden is the European country that uses the most renewable energy (39.8%) while the UK uses the least (1.5%). Both have constitutional monarchies.

Comparison to China China is overpopulated while Sweden is under populated. China is a communist government while Sweden is socialist. Both countries use urban planning. China and Sweden work together on environmental issues.
