Fabrication Process Joining two or more elements to make a single part is termed as fabrication process. Fairly large numbers of industrial components are made by fabrication process. Examples: Aircraft,Shipbuilding, Bridges, Sheet metal parts etc.
3
Classification Of Fabrication Process Mechanical joining by means of bolts, screws and rivets. Welding, Brazing and Soldering.
4
Welding is a joining process that uses heat, pressure, and/or chemicals to fuse two materials together permanently. Welding covers a temp range of 1500º F - 3000º F (800ºC - 1635ºC).
5
Types Of Welding Plastic welding or Pressure welding Fusion welding or non pressure welding
6
Plastic Welding The pieces are heated to a plastic state and then forced together by external pressure.
7
Fusion Welding In fusion welding the material at the joint is heated to a molten state and allowed to solidify.
8
Gas welding ( oxy acetylene, air –acetylene, oxy - hydrogen) Resistance welding (Butt, Projection, percussion, spot, seam) Thermit welding Solid state welding ( friction, diffusion, ultrasonic, explosive) Advance welding (electro beam, laser beam)

WELDING PARAMETERS welding current Welding Material Shielding Gas Electrode
12
Carbon Arc Welding In carbon arc welding heat is produced with an arc between a carbon electrode and work, normally no shielding gas is used. Carbon arc welding process can be used as an all position welding process.

Carbon Arc Welding
14
MIG Welding In mig welding process a consumable wire of 0.8 to 2.4 mm dia is wounded in spool form is feed at a preset speed through a welding torch where it is provided the electrical connection and the shelding gas.

MIG WELDING
16
TIG WELDING Tig welding is a process in which the source of heat is an arc formed between a non consumable tungsten electrode and the work piece, shielding gas argon is supplied continuously during welding

Submerged Arc Welding Submerged arc welding is the process in which continuous copper coated spooled wire is used with loose granulated powder ahead of the arc, so to protect the molten pool from atmospheric gases.
