Energy, Urgency, Priority The time is right! –Restructuring is nearing completion –Heightened focus on philanthropy –Steady and permanent funding is needed –Several counties seeing increased numbers in KS donors Why are we successful? OR Why aren’t we successful?

Memorial Gifts Collect and track the gifts. Acknowledge the gifts and let the family know the impact and provide a list of memorial donors. Usual Goal for Use of Funds: Annually Funded Memorial awards/scholarships Often raises less than $2000. Best if collected and acknowledged locally –Exceptions: If memorial gifts benefit a Penn State held endowment Process for tracking memorial gifts by PSU: –Send name of the memorialized person and the name and address for the family point of contact. –The names of the memorial donors will be then shared with the decedent’s family.

By the Numbers As of January 13, 2011 4-H Keystone Society Receipts (FY 2011-12) –$168,153 –Keystone Members: 191 Money Raised from KS: $722,698 (since 2008) Annual Appeal: $12,222.07 (in progress) Outstanding solicitations: $1.8 million

Stories of the Road An opportunity for each of us to share experiences in fundraising –Have you met with someone who said “no”? –Have you been surprised by the amount of a gift? –Have you heard of a donor experience with 4-H that left an impression on you?
