Kite explanation! Benjamin Franklin came up with an experiment to prove that electricity and lightning were the same thing. He conducted an experiment by flying a kite in a lightning storm on June 15, 1752. From his experiment he devised the lightning rod. He also came up with important concepts in meteorology and refrigeration.

TIME LINE! 1706 – Born in Boston 1712 – Goes to school at Boston Latin School 1723 – Meets and courts Deborah Read 1724 – Leaves for London under the auspices of Pennsylvania Governor William. 1726 – Returns to Philadelphia and in the next few years he works as a bookkeeper, a shopkeeper and a currency cutter. Ben then has his first son William during this time. 1727 – Franklin forms the “Junto” a social and self- improvement study group for young men.

TIME LINE! 1727-1730 Takes in Deborah Read as his common- law wife after her husband disappeared after stealing a slave. 1732 – His second son Francis was born ( although he died four years later of smallpox). He also published the book of Poor Richard’s Almanack. He was also elected Grand Master of the Pennsylvania Masons, clerk of the state assembly and postmaster of Philadelphia. 1740 – Franklin worked on his experiment of the Franklin stove and also into scientific pursuits. 1743 – His daughter Sarah.

TIME LINE! 1748 – He becomes a solider in the Pennsylvanian militia. 1752 – He conducts the kite experiment 1776 – He drafted the Declaration of Independence and also drafted the Articles of Confederation. 1790 – He dies at his daughters home. THE END!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
