2. Summary Begins with an introduction of the police group investigating a kidnapping. The kidnapper gives the team false clues by setting up other criminals. We then find out that the hostage is in on the kidnapping as she wants the ransom money to elope with kidnapper who she is in a relationship with. One of the cops figures out that someone on the police force is involved with the kidnapping and starts investigating who it could be – concluding with the suspect being his partner and best friend. They go to arrest him and force entry into his house but realise it is too late as him and the hostage have run off together with the money…

3. The Opening Title Sequence Focuses on a dual narrative between the police force who are investigating the crime and the antagonist (kidnapper). Set during present day in Brighton. The story revolves around the police, therefore being set in the station they work in, as well as the antagonist who seen trying to evade them and running towards where the hostage is hiding. The OTS hints that the events are linked through props such as ‘missing’ posters and police reports on the case. Costumes will be stereotypical investigator clothing such as trench coats and suits, whilst the antagonist will be dressed all in black with a hood to hide his identity. The two plots contrast each other with the police station being very light and airy, with diegetic sounds such as telephones ringing, keyboards typing and a radio broadcast in the background, whilst the antagonist’s POV shots will be dark, using hand held cameras as well as using music to create tension. For the final scene of our OTS we are going to use a graphic match between the victim’s face – which you don’t see until then – and a missing poster on a whiteboard in the police station, followed by the title of the film ‘Hoodwink’ overlapped with the eyes of the antagonist with a fade out.

4. Opening Title Sequence Plot Our OTS will begin with a point of equilibrium, showing your average day at a police station. We are going to use props to show this, and make the police seem stereotypically lazy. It will then cut to the antagonist who will be running through a car park to hide from the police as he’s paranoid that they’re onto him. It then switches between these two scenes using parallel editing, with close ups of words on the police’s whiteboard where they are investigating a crime linking in with the antagonist hiding. The OTS ends with a shot of the kidnapped victim, cutting using a graphic match of her face on a missing poster, followed by the title graphics.

5. Main Themes The theme of Thriller will be shown using mystery and suspense through the music, low key lighting, a blue tint, and de-saturated colour. The antagonist’s split personality will be show through the graphics in which we are going to use two different colours to symbolise the side of good versus evil. Crime will be symbolised by using props at the police station, with iconography to set the scene and show where it is. We are going to use two plot twists. One which would happen in the middle of the film where the audience find out that the hostage is actually in on her own kidnapping. The second plot twist isn’t revealed until the end where we find out that the antagonist is actually one of the police officers who has been investigating the crime and leaving false leads and red herrings out for the rest of the team to confuse them.

6. Representation of Character Our antagonist wears dark clothing which mirrors his dark personality, and hides behind a hood which adds mystery and tells the audience that he doesn’t want his true identity to be revealed. The police investigators are seen as though they have given up hope in solving the crime, which makes the audience empathetic for them and want them to solve the crime.
