WHAT IS AN ELEMENT? An element is something that cannot be broken down any more

WHAT IS A COMPOUND? Two or more elements that are combined chemically, form a compound.

HOW IS WATER IMPORTANT TO THE FUNCTIONS OF CELLS? Water dissolves chemicals that cells need Helps keep their size and shape Helps keep the temperature of cells from changing to quickly

WHAT MAKES UP CELLS? Cells are the basic unit of life. But cells are made up of lipids and proteins.

WHAT IS A NUCLEIC ACID? Nucleic acids are very long organic molecules. Some examples are carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, and phosphorus.
