THE STORY OF NIAN SHADOW WONG 5C (24)
2
ONCE UPON A TIME, THERE WAS A VILLAGE. THE VILLAGE WAS VERY QUIET. IN A CAVE, THERE WAS A MONSTER CALLED NIAN.
3
EVERY YEAR, MONSTER NIAN WOULD GO TO THE VILLAGE AND EAT PLANTS AND ANIMALS, BECAUSE IT FELT HUNGRY.
4
ONE NIGHT, THE MONSTER NIAN DAMAGED THE VILLAGE AGAIN. THE VILLAGERS WERE FRIGHTENED, SO THEY RAN AWAY FROM THEIR HOUSE. ALL OF THEM WERE SCARED AND SHOUTED LOUDLY.
5
THE NEXT YEAR, THE VILLAGERS POSTED THE RED PAPER IN FRONT OF THEIR HOUSES. WHEN THE MONSTER NIAN SAW THE RED PAPER, IT WAS SCARED AWAY.
6
BESIDES USING THE RED PAPER, THE VILLAGERS ALSO LIT FIRECRACKERS AND BEAT THE DRUMS TO SCARE THE MONSTER NIAN AWAY.
7
NIAN WAS VERY SCARED, SO NIAN RAN AWAY. FINALLY, NIAN NEVER RETURNED TO THE VILLAGE ANYMORE.
8
AFTER THAT, AT CHINESE NEW YEAR, PEOPLE PUT RED PAPER ON DOORS AND WALLS.
9
CHILDREN GET RED PACKETS. PEOPLE WATCH LION DANCES AND FIREWORKS.
