Formal Lab Reports The How To Guide!

Basic Requirements Must be typed Use 12 point font no cursive Each section should be labeled and underlined You may choose any lab we have done in the past two weeks Please spell check Type heading with first and last name and period number

Title Center the name of the lab and underline it

Introduction Explain why you did this lab What objective the teacher was trying to teach you Include which Illinois State Science Standard you addressed http://www.isbe.state.il.us/ils/ Click on Science and read the three standards and select one or more

Purpose Type the question you were trying to answer

Research Questions Type both the questions and the answers Explain what source you got your information from.

Hypothesis Type what you wrote in your original lab report, it is more than ok that you were wrong.

Materials Make a bulleted list of your materials you used in this lab

Procedure Type and number each step to your lab

Data Make a data chart and fill in the data Click on Insert Select chart and type in the dimensions

Analysis Type both your questions and your answers. Make any corrections from your first lab report Write in complete sentences Make sure your answers refer to your data

Conclusion Type the answer to your purpose question. If your hypothesis is right or wrong and how you know this. What else you still want to know based on this lab. (the answer nothing gets 0 points)
