“ we struggle to find the resources to enable us to create/make, let alone sell products that are all about our collections and our venue…”

Aims

Objectives: To develop the entrepreneurial culture and improve trading environments across the city region by the end of 2011/12 To increase commercial income by 5% above baseline year 2010/11 (this equates to 56% above CPI inflation of 3.2% at November 2010)

What success would look like: Essential we continue to drive entrepreneurship during 2011/12 and both consolidate and expand upon our successes to date. We needed: –better retail and catering trading spaces –improved ‘own brand’ products –improved staff knowledge and application –increased understanding of market forces and trends and how they influence performance –further increases in sales and profitability –ever ‘greener’ trading across the City Region.

What success would look like: We ensure that sustainability is at the core of this project. That improved commercial returns from each venue are achieved by the adoption of strategies that will continue after the cessation of priming funding. We explore new models of business and service delivery that: –deliver efficiencies –increase impact –reduce costs.

What success would look like: Our work would be distinguished by: –its emphasis on sharing good practice –building up powerful and empowered learning sets across organisations –developing and sharing understanding of benchmarks, performance and trends in order to be more responsive to the market. We would also further develop our ethical approach to retail in relation to fair trade and locally sourced products.
