Grammar Comma Rule #2- Introductory Elements Use a comma after words such as well, yes, no, and why when they begin a sentence. Use a comma after an introductory participial phrase. Use a comma after a succession of introductory prepositional phrases. Use a comma after an introductory adverb clause.

Grammar: Comma Rule #2 Use a comma after introductory element. EXAMPLE: Known in China four thousand years ago, falconry is an ancient sport. Write the sentence on your own paper. Decide where the commas should be used. If a sentence does not need a comma, write C (for correct). 1. Although falconry is indeed an ancient art in America many men still enjoy the sport. 2. Having sharp claws and hooked beaks falcons are by nature good hunters. 3. During the hunt a falconer usually wears a heavy leather gauntlet. 4. In the field is the desired game. 5. When the hunter sees a crow or pigeon and takes the hood off the falcon quickly attacks the game.
