5. THREE ASPECTS WE 'RE GOING TO ANALYZE IN SPEECHES Examine how the speaker develops the argument (logos, ethos, pathos), and what is the effect? Look at the rhetorical devices being used, and what are the effects? Determine how the speaker's leadership abilities are displayed in the speech, and what is the effect?

15. ARE LEADERSHIP QUALITIES EVIDENT IN THE SPEAKER? The purpose of any speech is to motivate the audience in some way. Leaders are able to use speeches to inspire, encourage, motivate, and persuade. To analyze a speaker's leadership qualities ask these questions: Do I believe what the speaker is saying? Why? How did the speaker move me? What do I want to do after listening? How do I feel about the speaker and the message? What am I going to do moving forward?
