Lesson 14 - Honors Examine & Analyze quickened love story! 1.Get your mind in a DEBATING kind of place! 2.Make sure your packet work is done. He’s climbing up your balcony, snatchin’ up your daughter!

Bell Ringer: Argue & Debate Before reading… Think Aloud: Once you start dating someone, how long should a person wait before getting engaged/married? How has your view of Romeo and Juliet changed so far? Are these two characters experiencing love or lust? In groups, you will write a well formulated response and debate: Is this love or lust? Open books to page 2.3

Activity Turn to 2.3 & 2.4 in your packets. Review! Romeo wants the Friar to marry he and Juliet. However, the Friar is hesitant. The Friar is confused about how quickly Romeo got over Rosaline, but is happy that this new love could end a long feud.

Activity In groups of 4, create a modernized scenario of Romeo and Juliet’s love swearing. You and your group will need to choose your setting first. Next, decide who is the Friar (meaning the cautious one). Then decide who the Romeo is (the one who desperately wants to get married). Create a skit where “Romeo” tells the “Friar” about his desire to marry a hated enemy. What does “Romeo” have to do to explain his love is real? What are the “Frair’s” questions, concerns, and joys? What does each character say? Your skit can be no longer than 1 minute and 30 seconds.
