Question ONE How do we define the personality traits of a hero? -Devine fire for life -Never spoke harsh words to anyone -Helped everyone he talked to no matter what the occasion -Life changing -Sacrificial -Never lost his smile no matter what torture’s he was facing -humble ( Nehru 1) “A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.” – Joseph Campbell free from that maniacal suspiciousness which, as E.M. How do the setting, conflicts, and antagonists influence the development of heroes? Setting From growing up in a first world country (England) and become so educated And learning the law and human rights thoroughly Gandhi knew what was “right” In terms of human rights and governmental law. When going to his home land And finding his root culture to be far from fair and just like his religion he chose to Become radical. All problems That Gandhi wasn’t exposed to himself but saw through the culture, people, and rulers of his home land. How does a hero reflect his/her particular culture and society He represents the religion and what it honestly means but not the culture. That’s what he is trying to change, he doesn’t want India to be in the dark ages with social classes and apartheids and strict controlling government. How do various cultures reward or recognize their heroes? How did your hero change himself to help others? He went from a middle class well educated English attorney To a person making no money to devote all of his time and energy to A profitless cause in hopes of a better world (Mahatma Gandhi One Spot, 5000 words) Throughout his life in India he had changed his life style by fasting For many different reasons -some most important and well known fastings’ were to stop violent protests In favor of his movement, but he did not support the way they where fighting For there cause (Bhavan, Chronology)

What made your hero different from everyone else during this period of time? While everyone was conforming to corruption and living within themselves And thinking only of themselves because of fear and selfishness Gandhi was Brave enough to overcome his humanly wants, live off of only his needs and Devote his entire life to helping India and its people (Bhavan) -He did not want to use ANY form of violent protesting at all and would fast when he heard of other Indian peoples using violence in support of him or his believes (Mahatma Gandhi One Spot, 5000 words)

Are people still effected by your heroes actions? How so. Yes, by simply learning about him in schools around the world and hearing stories Of all of his great accomplishments we challenge ourselves to be like him. What did your hero have to give up to acheive their goals? He gave up everything but the necessities in life He went from being well off, well dressed, and well fed To wearing simple hand woven dhoti's everyday to giving up everything that he Could possibly give. He gave up years of his life to happily spend in jail for his country and cause. Who inspired your hero to accomplish what he/she did? -Culture from the culture and hearts of Indian people’s (Øyvind) -Through influence’s in upbringings through the drastic changes from Indian schooling to English lifestyle and schooling (Mahatma Gandhi One Spot)
