1
SWBAT describe the structure and function of connective tissues Do Now: Review your note templates and be ready to name anatomical terminology, the purpose of the organ systems and their major organs, and identify epithelial tissue.
2
Clear your desk of everything but a writing utensil. 2 1 3 2
8
Pass your quiz to another member of your table group. Sign your name at the bottom of the quiz.

What must be true of cartilage on the cellular level if we can test results using lab mice?
11
Bind (hold things together), support, protects, fill spaces, store fat, produce blood cells
12
Widely distributed throughout the body
13
Facts: good blood supply, farther apart than epithelial and connected with a matrix (collection of fibers and fluids)
14
Adipose tissue- Cells store fats within themselves (cushion, insulate, energy storage) Loose connective tissue- lie under the skin, connect it to organs, provides blood to skin Dense connective tissue- very strong, used to bind parts together
15
Cartilage- protects, provide framework, absorb shock (in joints of bones) Bone- very rigid, heals quicker than cartilage Blood- helps transport and maintain internal environment
16
Ligament: Connects bone to bone Tendon: Connects muscles to bone
17
Use your notes and the book to outline important information about connective tissue. NOTE we DID NOT go into the cellular level organization of connective tissue. Use your book to supplement this information
18
Homework: Finish your independent practice worksheet Color the connective tissue page in your handout Read the book for supplemental information Create flashcards/foldables/ diagrams Next class: Muscle and Nervous Tissue
