Course Overview Classes at Univ. Politécnica de Madrid With students in Masters of Environmental and Bioclimatic Architecture (MAYAB) program Collaborative environmental planning and design workshop with MAYAB students Focused on Vallecas community, in outskirts of Madrid Visit to Univ. de Córdoba (UCO) – VCU partner Tours and classes on urban and rural environmental issues, local history and culture

Course Schedule Madrid: June 4-7 (Sat. – Tue.) Arrival, city orientation and tours Preliminary classes with MAYAB Córdoba: June 8-11 (Wed. – Sat.) Tours and classes with UCO faculty Madrid: June 12-18 (Sun. – Sat) Workshop with MAYAB students in Vallecas

Assignments Literature Review Paper Analysis and commentary on assigned pre-trip readings Trip Report Description and reflection on all course activities (classroom lectures, field trips, workshop, tours, etc.) Project Report Final report based on research and planning workshop conducted with MAYAB students in Vallecas

Budget Cost = $1485 + airfare + VCU tuition $500 scholarship for first 10 students to enroll Includes All accommodations, academic instruction and cultural tours On-site support from two instructors (including pre-departure orientation) VCU administrative fees International student identity card and travel insurance Train to and from Cordoba Does not include (est. @ $500 per student) Food / drink (not expensive in Spain!!) Intra-city travel (subway, etc.)
