1 Summary of the RESIK results using New version (v0.7) of onboard software The new version takes care of: The radiation belt HV switch off The HV switch off is forced when a) any of the four radbelt detectors rates exceed 8cts/10s threshold or b) any of the values among four ratios of allevents/encodedevents (four anodes) exceed value of 30. The HV is attempted to be switched on again after 3 min since the last positive detection of radbelts More realistic settings of in-window signal amplitude discrimination The lower and higher discrimination levels for in-window amplitude of the signal are set at the levels: 90 and 165 for all four detectors (0-255 scale, covering 1.05V – 2.95V range). V0.7 has been test uploaded on Jan. 14 at 09:00 MT for 12 hours and since Jan. 22 permanently. In the following figures we show some examples of the spectra. We still are working on this part of reduction programme which assigns UT to data, so the spectra are shown for consecutive DGI’s (10s) without taking care of proper time asignment.

6 Conclusions RESIK looks healthy, with all sensors behaving nominally, i.e. PSPDs, 4 radbelt dets, 14 temp sensors. All voltages are nominal. Temp. Fluctuates between 20 and 30 C during day/night portions of the orbit. Telemetry dump ~10 MB data/12 hours. Data are usually available next day on the IZMIRAN server. No Det.cal. Sequences have been run yet, but PHA for solar photons looks OK. Cal. Motors apparently do move. HV is now off during auroral and SAA radbelt passages. However, further tweaking is necessary since there are cases that HV is off unnecessarily. PSPDtotal rates are below 6.5 10^4 cts/s threshold. The ‘Fluorescense’ is very much down due to imposing in window discrimination. It still needs tweaking, taking into account ground cal results. Ar, S and K triplet lines can be seen, and a number of other lines including SXV, SiXIII 1snp, ArXVIII Lya?, Si XIV Lyb?, SXVI Lya?, Al. XIV Lya? In order to identify lines (line groups), ground cal. dispersion results are necessary. At least 10 flares have been observed by now. Examples will follow soon. During night portions of the orbit, det background is seen to be very low (~0.05 cts/bin/sec) constant over bin space. Flare continuum (?) levels are hundred times this background. Version v0.8 of RESIK software will be uploaded tomorrow. We will attempt to correct for unnecessary HV switch-offs while not in radbelts. The satellite is HEALTY as well
