A scientific study of culture in all it’s forms, throughout the world. Knowledge is based on observation. Cultural anthropologists strive to be: objective and to make reasonable conclusions. They study human beings and whole cultures.

Today, Anthropologists learn about other cultures by living with the people they are studying. Called participant-observers they must learn language, and gain the trust of the people to take part in cultural life, while remaining objective. How difficult would it be to become involved in a culture/community and remain objective? Objective: not influenced by personal feelings or opinions in considering and representing facts.

Human beings live within cultures that shape their thoughts and behaviours. As anthropologists study cultures around the world, they identify similarities and differences in the way that people think and behave. Anthropologists believe that each culture represents a unique way that people have developed to provide for their needs. Each culture, therefore, deserves respect.
