Buddha’s Enlightenment Buddha’s enlightenment led him to understand suffering. Buddha means “enlightened one” How to end suffering: follow the “Middle Way” Don’t go to extremes. He began preaching throughout South Asia. Buddhism was born - 500s BC His followers became known as Buddhists.
