August 12-13San Antonio, Texas 2015 Annual Business Meeting “LEC” Committee The Law Enforcement Committee continues to move forward from its transitioning phase from November of last year to today.

August 12-13San Antonio, Texas 2015 Annual Business Meeting Monthly Communication The LEC continues its monthly teleconference calls taking action on existing practices and procedures as well as providing Enforcement liaison to the IFTA community.

August 12-13San Antonio, Texas 2015 Annual Business Meeting Tasks… Task are assigned on a voluntary basis as we all work together in achieving our mandate and to ensure a strong safe working environment for all Enforcement Officers conducting IFTA/IRP inspections.

August 12-13San Antonio, Texas 2015 Annual Business Meeting Projects… The committee continues to work on several projects: Workshop Sub-planning committee: The LEC has 3 members assigned to the sub- committee who participate on monthly teleconference calls.

August 12-13San Antonio, Texas 2015 Annual Business Meeting October Meeting Highlight LEC has confirmed Texas Enforcement personnel to participate at the 2015 annual Manager’s and Law Enforcement workshop to be held in San Antonio TX. LEC is working on delivering 6 presentations at this event.

August 12-13San Antonio, Texas 2015 Annual Business Meeting M & M Blitz The LEC has created a new updated jurisdiction contact form. The LEC members continue to establish contact within the IFTA community ensuring a maximum participation with regards to the annual M&M Blitz.

August 12-13San Antonio, Texas 2015 Annual Business Meeting Best Practices Enforcement Best Practice: The committee has updated and developed the existing guide and we continue to strive on obtaining tips and training for Law Enforcement Agencies.

August 12-13San Antonio, Texas 2015 Annual Business Meeting CVSA CVSA Conference: LEC was present at the annual CVSA conference in FL. A presentation was delivered by Ms. Deb Meise, Sgt. Frank Hernandez and Tim Adams, IRP, Inc. promoting IFTA and IRP Enforcement.

August 12-13San Antonio, Texas 2015 Annual Business Meeting Working Group Participation ECWG (Electronic Credential Working Group): 2 members are currently working on the ECWG representing law enforcement to aid in the transition to electronic credential.

August 12-13San Antonio, Texas 2015 Annual Business Meeting LEC Charter AUTHORITY AND PURPOSE: The LEC is established by the IFTA Articles of Agreement pursuant to Article R1810.200.050. The LEC acts as a liaison between the fuel tax administrators within the IFTA membership and the fuel tax enforcement community by creating interest and promoting uniformity in fuel tax enforcement. COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITY: The LEC has the responsibility of advising the IFTA membership regarding law enforcement matters and such other responsibilities as specified in the IFTA or assigned to it by the International Fuel Tax Association, Inc. (“IFTA, Inc.”) Board of Trustees (“Board”). Additionally the LEC is responsible for:

August 12-13San Antonio, Texas 2015 Annual Business Meeting LEC Charter… planning and participating in the annual Managers/Law Enforcement Workshop, reviewing and commenting on ballot proposals, developing ballot proposals as appropriate, recruiting members and maintaining a list of potential committee members, making recommendations to the Board to fill committee vacancies; and maintaining the IFTA Best Practices Law Enforcement Guide.
