Can you picture this? We stacked our boxes into the moving van. We stacked our fifty brown boxes into the huge moving van. How about this?

Good writers create pictures in the reader’s mind. You can do this when you write, too, by adding adjectives that tell what kind and how many. Examples: The ocean was near our hotel. We swam for hours. The shining blue ocean was near our hotel. We swam for three long hours. Which example gives you a better mind movie?

Add adjectives to these sentences to create better mind movies. The movers lifted the chairs.

The truck carried our belongings.

Where do you think they are moving? Imagine the town, neighborhood, or house where the family is moving. Write a paragraph to describe the place you envision for them. Remember to include lots of adjectives to give the reader a good mind movie about the location.
