Compound Sentences 1st way (most commonly used) put two independent clauses together with a comma and a FANBOY (coordinating conjunction) Superman flew over the building, and Hulk smashed through the building.

Compound Sentences 2 nd way put two related independent clauses together with just a semicolon Flash sped to the scene; Thor was already there.

Compound Sentences 3 rd way put two independent clauses together with a semicolon, HABITFONTS (conjunctive adverb), and a comma Batman arrived just in time; therefore, he saved the day once again!

Punctuation Connectors ; semicolon strong enough to hold two clauses together, used with two types of compound sentences, comma not strong enough to hold two clauses together, needs a coordinating conjunction to help it
