Interviews are normally only required for vocational courses. Most other courses do not interview Interviews can take different forms and combinations One to one Group Tests Practical tests – dexterity; physical Scenarios which can be given on the day or sent in advance Role play Types of Interview

What are your reasons for choosing this course/career area? What is your understanding of this career ? Tell me about your experience and how it informed your decision to pursue this career/course What skills and qualities do you consider to be important for this career? What attracts you to our particular course? What are your main interests outside your academic study? Types of Question

What do you consider to be your greatest achievement and why? Give me an example of when you have had to deal with a difficult situation. How did you deal with this and what was the outcome? Where do you see yourself being in 10 years time? Do you have any questions? Other kinds of question

Obvious ones are planning your route, timing, dress etc. Re read your personal statement Re read the programme information about the course Anticipate the questions and have answers prepared but don’t rush your answers Make sure that you are up to date with current issues relating to the course/career If you know an answer to a question but your mind goes blank ask to go back to it later Have your own questions prepared Preparation
