形容词的比较级和最高级 英语中,大多数形容词都具有原级,比较级和最 高级三种等级形式。比较级和最高级又分为规则 形式和不规则形式两种,其中只有少数形容词的 比较级和最高级属于不规则变化。

一、单音节形容词的比较级和最高级 多为原级 +er / est 构成,如: 原级 比较级最高级 longlongerlongest warmwarmerwarmest

A The comparative of adjectives When we compare two things, we add – er to short adjectives and use more with long adjectives. Examples: cheap -- cheaper high -- higher useful -- more useful expensive -- more expensive

B The superlative of adjectives When we compare more than two things, we add –est to short adjectives and use most with long adjectives. We usually use the in front of a superlative. Examples: fast —— the fastest long —— the longest essential—— the most essential interesting —— the most interesting

Work in pairs: S1 asks the questions. S2 gives the answers. Follow the example. Remember to use the with the adjectives. Example: (big) Earth, the moon or the sun? S1: Which is the biggest, Earth, the moon or the sun? S2: The sun is the biggest.
