IRDSS What is IRDSS IRDSS developed and demonstrated an interregional telematics application/platform. Delivers general purpose services from public authorities to citizens and businesses. Technology: Web, GIS, distributed databases.

Objectives Empower local communities to construct a physical, economic, environmental and social model of their localities. Decentralisation of work and distribution of services from regional to local level. Economic and developmental interaction of geographically distant localities and regions.

Funding Total project cost 2911.3 KECU (48% EU) Telematics Applications Programme (1994- 1998) To develop an integrated set of telematic applications to enable geographically, economically and socially marginalized communities and groups to develop the potential of their areas and to link their economies to more central regions and to the Information Society.
