Teachers get away from traditional lecture Knowledge can be gained on their own More activities can be done to thoroughly understand lessons Help explain something that teachers can’t “Teachers in the later grades usually extend the range of activities to carefully controlled Internet projects and to ask questions of professional experts” says Doris Bergen.
5
Individual work on devices allow students to be on level they need Kids come in with different levels of skill Work on activities that are challenging for them “Technology may be increasing teacher attention to individualization because of the different levels of expertise…”
6
New ways of measuring ability More of an opportunity to show understanding Content standards are changing and so are the tests Not limited to pencil and paper “The entire world is about to change dramatically, and technology is going to be the central of that”
7
New ways of instruction New programs on the devices to involve kids Allows kids to have more experience More prepared they will be later in life Challenge students in new ways
8
Information becomes meaningful when applied Kids will want to pay attention More likely to absorb the information “We can take advantage of the power of technology to do things like stimulations, visualizations, games with better feedback, and better adaptive materials”
9
Web can be easily accessed on devices Information found faster Teachers can go more in depth into topics because kids get information on their own Teachers pack more into lessons Go over information if students don’t understand the first time “Students were able to complete tasks 30% faster with the help of computers, as opposed to without them” says Dr. Patel
