Try 1 3(1) 3 + 2(1) 2 – 7(1) + 2 = 3 + 2 – 7 + 2 = 5 – 7 + 2 = -2 + 2 = 0 It works!!! So, (x – 1) is a factor

Try -2 3(-2) 3 + 2(-2) 2 – 7(-2) + 2 = -24 + 8 + 14 + 2 = -16 + 14 + 2 = -2 + 2 = 0 It works!!! So, (x + 2) is a factor

Try 1/3 3(1/3) 3 + 2(1/3) 2 – 7(1/3) + 2 = 1/9 + 2/9 – 7/3 + 2 = 1/9 + 2/9 – 21/9 + 18/9 = -18/9 + 18/9 = 0 It works!!! So, (x – 1/3) is a factor Also written as (3x – 1)
