1. Create a camera using basic shapes only

2. Using the eye dropper to specify a color  Open camera.ai  use the eye dropper tool and click the first swatch on the left:

3. Get ready to draw  Open the Transform panel  Select the center reference point

4. More parameters… Choose rounded rectangle tool Use these values: All items are relative to selected reference point What do x,y say?..H, W?

5. Values  X=2.5  Y=5  H=2.45  W:4.67

6. Make the smaller rectangle

7. Create the small rectangle Steps:  Deselect everything  Choose the rounded rectangle again  Drag  Add smaller rectangle no stroke

8. Add the small rectangle  Deselect all  Select the rounded rectangle  Drag to create the small rectangle Group the two shapes (Select both, Ctrl-G) Next: The dark circle and the white stroke

9. Circle (lens?)   Eye dropper to select the color swatch on the far right  Stroke: White, 6 pt  Draw a circle from center out…Use shift key to constrain to perfect circle, at the same time use Alt key to drag from center-out, and drag  Use your judgment re size of the circle

10. Small circle, white inside black one  Deselect all  Change fill to white, no stroke, Shift, alt drag to create the white ellipse

11. Add tiny square  Next, create the small rectangle in the upper left. This time let’s create on the canvas and then later drag the finished version to the camera

12. Add the tiny rectangle  Deselect all  Choose rounded rectangle tool, draw as shown below  Choose color swatch second from the right for fill color  White stroke, 3 pt

13. Rotate the camera  Drag a marque( use selection tool) around all the artwork  Specify 15 degree rotation: (transform)

14. Result

15. Add black circle and place it behind all else  Sample the right-most color again  No stroke  Choose ellipse tool

16. Draw : Draw a new black ellipse: Width 3.5 Height: 3.5 Select the black ellipse Send it to the back: Object>Arrange >Send to back Or use Layers and move the layer to the back. Next, let’s draw and rotate the small lines (rounded rectangles):

17. Use layers  Sample a brown swatch color again, no stroke, Draw this rounded rectangle:  W:.96 “  H:.”41”

18. Copy  Select the brown rectangle  Could copy and paste, no problem  Or select the shape and hold down alt ke yas you drag the shape:  Result:

19. Adjust the three shapes  View>Show bounding box  Use it to rotate the three shapes:  Result : Position them and adjust angles:

20. crop  How big is the camera?

21. Crop  As seen previously

22. Crop the camera  Choose File>Save for web  Will see  Checker board meaning? Save as FinalCamera.ai

23. Save as ai Save as gif (Next)  File Save

24. Choose  I used 2-up  Which would you choose? Why?
